Distinguished Speaker Series: Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon

10 January 2018 @ 3:45 pm - 5:30 pm

Supreme Court of Singapore, Singapore

The Chamber started the new year with a dialogue with The Honourable Sundaresh Menon, Chief Justice of Singapore. The event took place at the Supreme Court of Singapore and was attended by close to 50 members, including many of our Legal Services Committee Members.

In his keynote address, Chief Justice Menon spoke about the rule of law and its critical role in the growth and development of business interests in Singapore. In particular, Singapore’s strong legal institutions and emphasis on the rule of law have helped foster a robust environment for the protection and enforcement of commercial rights. The Chief Justice also spoke about the Singapore International Commercial Court and its key characteristics which make it a compelling dispute-resolution option for Singapore businesses with transnational commercial operations.

We would like to thank Chief Justice Menon for spending the evening with us and candidly sharing his wisdom and insights as well as Mr Stephen Revell, Managing Partner of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Singapore and SICC Board Member, for moderating this dialogue.

The next Distinguished Speaker Series event is with Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) on 5 April 2018.

This series of events is proudly presented by our exclusive event series partner, GEMS World Academy (Singapore).
