The Signature Series: Ms. Grace Fu

13 August 2024 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre

Our Signature Series events are always about substance and quality content. That is always achieved because of the calibre of speakers we host. It was certainly true yesterday afternoon when we were delighted to host Ms. Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations once again as our guest speaker. The last time Ms. Fu spoke with Chamber members was in September 2022. Yesterday’s event was an opportunity for members and guests to hear a report card on Singapore’s Green Plan and to dialogue with the minister on business opportunities associated with the transition to a green economy.

Key takeaways from the dialogue include:

🍃 Climate change needs both mitigation and adaptation responses and solutions to protect water and food security as well as coastlines.

🍃 Graduates in sustainability should work in every sector and start the change process to more sustainable business practices where they do not already exist. Where they do already exist, graduates should work to amplify and extend them.

🍃 International cooperation is a key enabler of spreading the benefits of technology to developing countries via capital and knowledge.

🍃Policies must protect the economy while providing incentives to change behaviour.

The Chamber thanks Ms. Grace Fu for her time, expertise and candour and the audience for its interesting comments and questions which resulted in an engaging conversation.
