The Chamber was delighted today to host another in its ASEAN Series of events in collaboration with member Control Risks and partner ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute. The topic was Myanmar.

Our guest speakers Mr. Romain Caillaud, Associate fellow of the Myanmar Studies Program at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute and Mr. John Bray, Director at Control Risks provided their analyses and engaged in a moderated Q+A with the audience. Subjects covered included the reasons for the coup on 1 February, whether or not the military has miscalculated this time, the responses of ASEAN and other countries and how much they matter as well as possible future scenarios.

Romain and John rounded off the webinar with advice for companies operating in Myanmar and what they can do to better manage their risks: stay informed, believe your local team and ensure you have multiple sources of information. Beyond that, hang in there if possible.
