Singapore American School Reimagined

10 September 2025, 4.00pm

Singapore American School

Our heartfelt appreciation to our Principal Strategic Partner, Singapore American School (SAS), for opening your doors to our members and friends yesterday and for leading the way in reimaging both education and sustainability.

Participants had the privilege to explore the newly constructed elementary school at SAS – one of the world’s largest and most innovative – marking a major milestone in the SAS Reimagined initiative that will transform the future of education over the next three years.

Kicking off the session, speakers Isaac Williams and Simon Thomas shared an overview of the rebuilding project and highlighted the sustainability-focused design of the new elementary school wing, which integrates both passive and non-passive strategies through a thoughtful, layered approach.

After the speakers’ session, participants were guided on a tour of the school to see firsthand how these design choices and sustainability elements came together in practice.

🔍 Key Learnings:

  • The importance of architectural intentionality – ensuring spaces are designed with purpose.
  • Leveraging technology to enhance details in design and function.
  • Challenging traditional approaches, with students at the core of every decision.
  • Designing spaces that meet diverse needs, as students perform best when they are comfortable.
  • Renovating on a live campus comes with unique challenges.
  • Benefits of air conditioning in all learning spaces include improved acoustics and lighting.

👏 This event’s success would not have been possible without the valuable insights of our speakers and the active participation of our engaged audience. Thank you once again to SAS for their partnership and vision in shaping the future of education and sustainability.

🌿 This event is part of the Sustainability Event Series, exclusively sponsored by SAS. The series delivers relevant business content around two key pillars of sustainability — people and planet.
