True Grit

We returned to SIA’s Training Centre today after over 6 years to learn how SIA persevered, adapted and rebounded from the pandemic to return to profitability and retain its leadership position in the airline industry. Mr. Siva Govindasamy, Vice President Public Affairs at Singapore Airlines (SIA) shared SIA’s relentless focus on its people, continual investment in training and technology to preserve and strengthen its core capabilities. As borders opened, it was able to deploy resources and inject capacity quicker than other airlines to capture pent-up travel demand.

It is a story of true grit and leadership from the top and by each team member as well as their unions.

As bonus features we had a tour of the airline’s training centre where cabin crew are trained in an intensive 14 week programme as well as a visit to a flight simulator. All in all, a great morning well spent.
