Networking can be daunting but Brian Liu, Founder of Be The Good, led an inspiring workshop on “How to Network with Positive Impact” yesterday afternoon. He shared practical hacks to make networking at events not only easy but enjoyable to help attendees build authentic connections that drive meaningful success.

Here are his five lessons:

🧩 Lesson 1: Co-create something
The session started with an effective icebreaker by having everyone write a word describing networking’s purpose, then pair up to co-create a new word. This exercise demonstrates our innate ability to collaborate and create together.

🧩 Lesson 2: Focus on YOUR comfort
Prepare a cheat sheet of topics you’re confident in discussing, allowing you to steer conversations smoothly. Ensure you are also dressed comfortably to boost your confidence and ease.

🧩 Lesson 3: Talk about FEELINGS
Talk about feelings in conversations because facts can only go so far. Feelings create deeper connections, fostering trust and understanding, which lead to more meaningful and impactful communication in relationships.

🧩 Lesson 4: Go for Social Depth
We need to prioritize social depth over social breadth as our human psyche is wired for deeper and meaningful connections. Quality interactions foster trust, understanding and long-lasting relationships, offering more value than numerous shallow connections.

🧩 Lesson 5: Go big on Self Disclosure
Go big on self-disclosure to quickly build trust. Sharing personal insights moves you from task-based trust to relationship-based trust, creating stronger and more authentic connections in both personal and professional settings.

Thank you again, Brian, for your impressive and energetic insights and to our engaged audience for their active participation and enthusiasm.
