Navigating Supply Chain Disruptions: Legal and Commercial Strategies
In partnership with Chamber members, Drew & Napier LLC and Freshfields Singapore, the Chamber convened a session on “Force Majeure and Supply Chain Disruption: Legal and Commercial Strategies” on 25 May 2026 at the Drew & Napier Office.
The event was conceived following a recent chamber dialogue with Mr. Alvin Tan, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of National Development, where issues relating to global supply chain resilience and business continuity were discussed. Organised under the auspices of the SICC Legal Services Interest Group (LSIG), chaired by Mr. Benjamin Gaw, Drew & Napier, the session brought together legal and business perspectives on navigating today’s evolving operating environment.
Against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions, sanctions, logistics bottlenecks, cyber threats, labour shortages and climate-related disruptions, global supply chains continue to face increasingly interconnected risks.
Drawing on practical case studies and real-world scenarios, speakers Mr. Mahesh Rai, Director, Dispute Resolution, Drew & Napier, and Mr. Nicholas Lingard, Partner, Freshfields, shared legal and commercial perspectives on navigating disruptions, managing contractual obligations under Singapore and English law, and strengthening supply chain resilience.
The session prompted active discussion among participants from across industries, reflecting the relevance of these issues to businesses operating in a rapidly changing global environment.
We extend our appreciation to the speakers for sharing their perspectives, and to all SICC members and guests for contributing to the discussion.
SICC remains committed to convening conversations and knowledge-sharing platforms that support businesses in navigating global developments and emerging challenges.
