Last Friday, the Chamber brought together senior business leaders for our Executive Business & Economic Outlook Forum 2026 & New Year Reception, opening the year with a timely exchange on the forces shaping the business environment ahead.

The forum began with Ms Selena Ling, Chief Economist & Head, Group Research, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited, who shared perspectives on the global and regional economic outlook, spanning major markets such as the US and China, as well as developments in Malaysia and Indonesia. Her insights set a strong foundation for understanding how global shifts may impact businesses operating in and from Singapore.

This was followed by Mr Calvin Chu, Partner, EY-Parthenon, Ernst & Young Solutions LLP, who examined five megatrends increasingly influencing strategic decision-making, from demographics and sustainability to geopolitics, AI-driven technology change, and financial market dynamics, offering practical considerations for organizations navigating uncertainty.

These perspectives were further explored in a panel dialogue featuring Ms Selena Ling and Mr Chuin Wei Yap, Program Director, International Trade Research, Hinrich Foundation, moderated by Mr Seng Bingxun, Partner, EY-Parthenon, Economic Advisory, Ernst & Young Solutions LLP, alongside a highly engaging Q&A session that reflected the issues top of mind for business leaders today.

The evening concluded with our New Year Reception, where our Chairman, Mr Wong Joo Seng, delivered his welcome remarks and a New Year toast. The conversations that followed reflected the Chamber’s role as a platform for meaningful dialogue, collaboration and partnerships, bringing the business community together as we navigate shared opportunities and challenges in the year ahead.

We extend our sincere thanks to our audience for their active participation, our speakers and moderator for generously sharing their expertise, and our venue partner, Amara Singapore, for supporting us in making this event a meaningful and successful start to the year.
