Distinguished Speaker Series: Minister Desmond Lee

22 July 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Webinar

The Chamber was delighted to host Mr. Desmond Lee, Minister for Social and Family Development (MSF) and Second Minister for National Development on 22 July 2020 as its Distinguished Speaker. The topic was how the Government and businesses can work together to do more for the greater good of society. The Minister’s keynote address highlighted the economic and social impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and what corporate leaders in Singapore are doing to provide support to the less privileged and more vulnerable segments of our community. Minister Lee also talked about some of the schemes and initiatives MSF has rolled out to help such as the temporary relief fund in the Covid-19 support grant, SG Cares Community Network and the Community Link.

An engaging Q & A session followed the Minister’s address moderated by SICC Chairman Per Magnusson. Questions covered a broad range of topics, including the efforts of the Emerging Stronger Taskforce to help business navigate through the economic crisis, the sustainability of giving over the long haul and help with managing good mental health. The Chamber would like to thank the Minister for spending time with us and also send our thanks to all attendees who contributed to a constructive dialogue. Special thanks to Prudential for its continued, generous support as the Exclusive Event Sponsor.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next Distinguished Speaker Series event on 2 September 2020 when Mr. S. Iswaran, Minister for Communications and Information will be our guest.
