Chamber members participated in a closed-door dialogue session with Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing on 19 February 2019. Discussion topics included recent geopolitical and economic developments, the challenges that Singapore faces as well as manpower issues.

Despite the global uncertainties, there are still opportunities for Singapore to differentiate itself and stand out  from the competition. Minister Chan spoke about the many strengths in Singapore’s economy – physical accessibility, connectivity in the realms of systems, data, finance and talent flows, regulatory access to other markets and our strong reputation in IP protection and upholding the rule of law. Minister Chan also urged members to continue to upskill our workers and provide good career progression for them as one of Singapore’s biggest challenges in not in the quantity but quality of our workforce.
