In fulfilment of a commitment made by our Chief Executive Victor Mills to MOS Alvin Tan, we were delighted yesterday to host a mentorship drive in collaboration with Mentoring SG. We convened a diverse group of businesspeople, many of them non-members (but not for long!), who were united in wanting to help and give back because many of them have benefitted from mentoring themselves.

Brian Liu, Founder, Be The Good gave us one of the most energizing and engaging presentations we have hosted in a while. He explained the focus and plans of Mentoring SG and what is needed in the Singapore context to help young people. A key learning point was the need for mentors to keep up with popular culture to better relate to young mentees. You don’t have to be a Swiftie like Brian but you do have to know who Taylor is!

Brian ensured the session was interactive by lacing his pitch with coaching questions which inspired thought and produced plenty of energizing laughter. You just had to be in the room! So, like yesterday’s attendees, support Mentoring SG and benefit others and yourself. Never underestimate the power of reverse mentoring!
