Basics of a Startup

SICC Members' Room

Basics of a Start Up

Here’s what we learned today thanks to our panellists Ms. Sue Anne Han, Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder, Elemental Health Pte Ltd, Ms. Renee Chong, Chief Executive Officer, Emmet Insight Pte Ltd and Mr. Kenneth Ng, Global Sustainability Lead, Razer Inc. whose conversation was moderated by Wong Joo Seng a serial entrepreneur himself and Deputy Chairman of the Chamber.

💡Entrepreneurs start with an idea that can solve a problem. The belief in that idea is strong enough for people to leave comfy, corporate jobs and start out on their own.

💡No entrepreneur’s path is either smooth nor straight whatever you may have heard. Multiple pivots are often needed but action nearly always counteracts fear.

💡It is lonely as an entrepreneur. Funding is not the only issue. You need emotional resilience but you do need support from a community. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from mentors.

💡Market yourself: speak and write. Use social media to reach a wider audience.

💡Know when to exit.

This was a great relaunch of our Entrepreneurs Interest Group which is co-chaired by Joo and his SICC Board peer Abel Ariza. Our thanks to today’s panellists, Joo and our audience. If you have suggestions for future meetings and events of this Interest Group please let us know at [email protected].
