Seminar on International Arbitration: Understanding the Selection and Drafting of Arbitration Clauses
The SICC LSIG and Dentons Rodyk hosted a seminar on Wednesday 6 November on understanding the selection and drafting of arbitration clauses. The seminar was presented by Senior Partner Lawrence Teh, and Camilla Godman, Director, Asia Pacific, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
Lawrence discussed how careless drafting or the adoption of pathological arbitration clauses can add needless time and costs to the process. He also shared his views on adding a mediation tier to a dispute resolution clause, the process of challenging an arbitral award and the idea of appealing an arbitral award on point of law. Camilla presented on the essential features of arbitration and she also broke down an arbitration clause into its various components with detailed explanation.
