On Tuesday, 23 July 2024, members of the SICC Legal Services Industry Group had a very informative meeting with John Quinn, a founding partner of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart and Sullivan, the world’s largest law firm devoted solely to business litigation and arbitration. John was accompanied by John Rhie, Quinn Emanuel’s Managing Partner of Asia, and Duncan Watson KC, Quinn Emanuel’s Managing Partner of Singapore. Quinn Emanuel opened their Singapore office earlier this month, and have joined the SICC LSIG.  The purpose of the meeting was to introduce themselves to the other members of the LSIG and discuss how Quinn Emanuel (who do not practice Singapore law) can work with local and offshore firms based in Singapore. After introductory remarks from Akshay Kishore welcoming Quinn Emanuel to Singapore and the LSIG, John Quinn and his colleagues set out their vision for the Singapore office.  The attendees engaged in a discussion around co-operation and potential partnership.  The meeting was hosted at Drew & Napier’s offices. It was an opportunity to exchange views and thoughts on opportunities for law firms operating in Singapore.
