Dear Members and Friends
As you
know, World Mental Health Day is
celebrated every year on 10
October. This year’s theme, “It
is Time to Prioritize Mental
Health in the Workplace,”
underscores the importance of
everyone’s mental health at work
as well as advocating for
workplaces where mental health
is prioritized, protected and
promoted.
It is a sad
fact far too many businesses
seem happy to spend time, money
and effort on dealing with
mental health issues rather than
the root cause: their workplace
culture. They fail to see the
linkage of cause and effect.
Positive workplaces have
dramatically less mental health
issues and offer the most cost
effective and sustainable
solution for individuals and
businesses alike. A positive
workplace culture also addresses
the issue of stigma and removes
any negative impact on the
career prospects and promotion
of people who have recovered
from a mental illness.
To mark World Mental Health Day,
and to emphasize the importance
of positive workplace culture,
here’s what the Chamber has
designed for you during the
month of October:
Register
and support us as we support you
and your teams.
Lastly,
WorkWell Leaders and the
Singapore National Employers
Federation (SNEF) have,
in collaboration, launched a new
national digital pledge campaign
aimed at all leaders to act now
and adopt workplace mental
wellbeing programmes. Not only
will it send a strong signal of
your commitment to workplace
mental wellbeing but it also
helps differentiate you as a
people-first leader. Find out
more and make a pledge on the
digital wall
here. Alternatively, you may
consider writing a post on
LinkedIn and tag @WorkWell
Leaders and @SNEF.
Wishing you all good health
today and every day.
Yours faithfully
Victor Mills
