Dear Members and Friends
As we
approach another Deepavali on 12
November, there can be no doubt
our world needs more light to
overcome the darkness of
selfishness, inhumanity, human
hunger and suffering, displaced
people everywhere, polarized
societies and societies which
seem hell bent on
self-destruction. The world
often seems in a mess. It does
so again now.
Deepavali – the Festival of
Lights – brings illumination to
dispel all those who work in the
dark. Light exposes ill deeds and
intentions. They can no longer
be hidden because they can be
seen. The Festival also gives
hope of a brighter, happier and
more just tomorrow.
Here in Singapore we have just
been given a glimpse of a better
tomorrow in the Forward SG
Report which was recently published. It is, essentially, a call
to action for everyone who loves
this country to contribute to
the light and to share it with
others. Deepavali reminds us we
can all be better points of
light for ourselves, our loved
ones, colleagues and the wider
community.
The Chamber wishes everyone who
celebrates Deepavali a joyous
celebration and increased light
to every one of us.
Yours faithfully
Victor Mills
