Dear
Members and Friends
In
issue #450 of this
e-newsletter we suggested two
ways in which you might consider
commemorating LKY 100 – the
100th anniversary of the birth
of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s
Founding Prime Minister, which
falls on 16 September this year.
We promised to let you
know how the Chamber will
celebrate LKY 100. The Board has
approved a donation of SGD
50,000 to the LKY Centennial
Fund from the Chamber’s funds.
We know many of you have
donated to the same fund and we
want to thank you all for your
contributions in memory of an
extraordinary leader whose
commitment to Singapore, its
people, its economy and its
security was complete and who
remains an inspiration to so
many of us.
In addition
to the Chamber’s donation, we
want to “crowdfund” SGD 30,000
for members to plant 100 trees
in memory of Mr. Lee under the
Garden City Fund’s Plant-a-Tree
Programme. I will pay for 4
trees. That’s only 296 to go!
Will you join me in helping the
Garden City Fund reach its
target of 1 million trees by
2030 and, at the same time, pay
tribute to Mr. Lee who was the
chief visionary of a clean and
green Singapore?
Yours faithfully
Victor
Mills
Chief Executive
