Dear
Members and Friends
Happy
New Year! Xin Nian Kuai Le!
Your Chamber is all about
sustaining businesses and
Singapore. What has been
achieved in the last 6 decades
here is nothing short of
remarkable and deserves to be
sustained. The values and
behaviours demonstrating those
values must be sustained for
future generations and for the
wellbeing of this country: good,
clean, people-centric
governance, the rule of law
applied without fear or favour
to all, free and fair trade,
respect for multi-culturalism
and the international rules
based order. To these we should
add a positive work attitude by
all employees in part enabled by
a positive workplace culture in
every business co-created and
sustained by everyone in each
business from the Board
downwards. The latter two are a
work in progress for our economy
as they are for all economies.
If more businesses here achieved
them, it would be
transformational for them and go
a long way to sustaining
Singapore.
Because true sustainability is
the core of SICC, the Chamber is
a supporting partner of the 2nd
annual Sustainability Week Asia
organized by Economist Impact
part of The Economist Group.
This will take place in-person
in Singapore and online from 7th
to 9th February 2023.
Sustainability is now mainstream
because it is all about
survival. Sustainability is all
about creating new business
opportunities and a better
future. It is critical that
Boards, corporate teams and
stakeholders are all focused on
practical action.
Sustainability Week Asia
aims to help you cut through the
greenwashing noise surrounding
sustainability, giving you an
independent guide to help you
chart ways to achieving your
business goals. The conference
will provide you with
macro-level analysis and case
studies connected with practical
examples to help your business
survive by becoming sustainable,
faster.
Participate and let me and
Andrew Chew, who chairs our
Sustainability Interest Group,
have your thoughts around the
actions you and your business
plan to take.
GONG
XI FA CAI!
Yours
faithfully
Victor Mills
