Dear Members and Friends

In nearly every value system worth its salt, and in every major religion, light denotes illumination; the triumph of knowledge over ignorance and good over evil. As we wish our Indian members and friends a Happy Deepavali on 24 October, our world badly needs more light.

The best way to achieve light is for leaders to be selfless in service, to adhere to truth and to personify integrity. Too many business and world leaders are selfish in thought, word and deed. Too many leaders divide rather than unite people. Too many leaders provide despair instead of hope.

We need people-centric governance to heal divisions, to reduce inequalities and to build better businesses, countries and societies. That takes selfless self-leadership from each of us and from our leaders.

We need to remind the great powers we expect them to be great. We do not expect them to behave like malicious, peevish children. We demand they collaborate, be the best they can be and lead for the benefit of the human race and this planet.
