Dear
Members and Friends
I often get asked by some of you for ideas and recommendations for CSR activities which are impactful, meaningful and well worth your time and that of your teams. I have two suggestions for your consideration this year both about the theme of inclusion of underserved communities which deserve more attention and help from businesses.
The first suggestion is APSN which stands for the Association for People with Special Needs. This association serves the intellectually different most of whom are able to perform a variety of service and other roles, including repetitive tasks, with ease and a high level of accuracy that the rest of us would not excel at.
Visit
https://www.apsn.org.sg/
to learn more and then contact [email protected]
or
[email protected]
to offer your help. One way would be to provide internships and/or work experience.
The second suggestion is DOT which stands for Daughters of Tomorrow. This association serves the needs of underprivileged women by facilitating livelihood opportunities and by supporting them in achieving financial independence. This, in turn, enables social mobility for their families. Visit
https://daughtersoftomorrow.org/ for more information and then contact
[email protected] to offer your help. One way would be look after children while their mothers attend courses.
Thank you for all that you do and plan to do to serve the community in which you live and work. This behaviour is one of the hallmarks of responsible, integrated businesses.
Have a
great week ahead.
Yours
faithfully
Victor Mills
Chief Executive
P.S. The Chamber has donated SGD 50,000 each to both these organizations this year in celebration of the 185th anniversary of its founding and of 185 years of purposeful service to businesses and Singapore.
