Dear
Members and Friends
2021 is the year of celebrating
SG Women – defined as all women
who live in Singapore. I have
talked a lot this year about the
responsibility of business
leaders to co-create and
sustain, with their teams, a
positive workplace culture. One
in which no-one is abused,
discriminated against, harassed
or sexually assaulted. A culture
because of which everyone is
integrated, developed and
appreciated for personal and
commercial success. I have also
spoken a lot about businesses
looking after their teams’
mental and physical wellbeing
because it makes sense to look
after the people who implement
strategy, serve customers,
achieve revenue growth and
sustain each business.
Sadly, all of us either have had
personal experience of cancer,
live with someone or have a
family member or friend who is
battling it. The
Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) is
launching a new programme called
SCS EmpowHER Campaign focusing
on how each woman’s
health is key to work performance and well-being.
Though many
women may be aware of the
availability of cancer
screenings, and even of the need
for them, there seems a fairly
widespread lack of motivation to
take the first step to make an
appointment for these
screenings.
This programme
by SCS enables employers to make
a difference in the lives of
their women employees by
empowering them to take an
active role in cancer control.
For more
information on how your business
can partner SCS to accomplish
this, please email
[email protected] or fill up this
form.
Make time, too, to attend and
encourage all women to attend
SCS’ upcoming webinar on women’s
cancer
which your Chamber is
supporting.
I am writing
this on International Men’s Day
(Nov 19). So, it is the perfect
opportunity to say: don’t
neglect the men in your
business. They, too, need
encouragement to look after
themselves especially with
regards to prostate cancer. SCS
can help you with this too.
