Dear
Members and Friends
As we all mark World Mental
Health Day this 10 October, we
should ask ourselves what can we
do to ensure our mental
wellbeing at work?
Looking after ourselves means
not allowing anyone at work to
abuse, bully, discriminate
against, harass or undermine us.
That is why working in a company
with a positive workplace
culture (PWC) is so important
for our careers and our health.
More than that, we all
need to manage our time so we
don’t burnout. There is no need
to keep checking your phone for
messages or e-mails after office
hours. That is what Work Life
Harmony (WLH) means. You are not
on call 24/7 and you do not have
to answer emails after office
hours except in an emergency.
Each of us needs to take control
of our free time and cherish it
as a way to relax and recharge.
Self-care is not selfish. It is
looking after our mental and
physical wellbeing so that we
can be more effective,
productive, successful and
useful at work.
If you
have a PWC in your company,
celebrate it. If you don’t,
check out the WLH resources at:
https://www.tal.sg/tafep/Resources
and start the process. Your
health demands it.
Yours faithfully
