Dear
Members and Friends
A couple of weeks ago when I
wrote the editorial for
this e-newsletter about the
key messages of this year’s
National Day Rally speech, I got
a mixed reception. Some people
were pleased about the messages
on essential workers getting a
better deal, others were happy
ageism in the workforce would be
outlawed.
Other
correspondents were less than
happy about plans to enshrine
existing TAFEP guidelines into
law. They are worried about
weakening tripartism because of
the threat of potentially
costly, wasteful and, maybe
even, frivolous litigation. They
are worried too about the new
law inadvertently further
entrenching a misplaced sense of
self-entitlement in the
workforce.
What are your
concerns, views and questions
about talent and manpower
matters? Please submit them this
week to
[email protected] and,
better still,
register to attend our
online dialogue with Dr. Tan See
Leng, Minister for Manpower on
24 September at 2pm. It is bound
to be both candid and lively.
Have a good week ahead.
Yours faithfully
Victor Mills
