Dear
Members and Friends
Over the last 8 years the
Chamber has consistently called
for an end to discrimination of
all kinds especially
discrimination based on age and
gender. Discrimination is a
poison which prevents people and
businesses from achieving their
potential and reduces commercial
success.
There has only
been some progress on ending
gender discrimination. For
instance, it took a pandemic to
significantly extend the
adoption of flexible work
arrangements. But equal pay for
women and men doing the same job
is still not the norm it should
be.
Even more worrying is
the very little progress made on
ending age discrimination
because of societal and
workplace prejudices.
How
do we as individuals and
companies change this lamentable
state of affairs? When will we
achieve an age blind workforce?
When will businesses stop
sabotaging their own efforts to
attract and retain talent? What
is the role of government in all
this and would legislation help
or hinder?
Join me for an
in-person dialogue with
Distinguished Speaker Prof.
Tommy Koh on 16 September when
he will address the topic of
ageism and dialogue with you to
find solutions.
Register here.
Yours faithfully
Victor Mills
