Dear
Members and Friends
This week I want to highlight
the work of people who advocate
for and support our fellow
citizens, who are differently
abled, to access the dignity of
work. Just because someone is in
a wheelchair does not mean they
can’t be an effective team
member.
Some of you are
members or friends of the
Singapore Business Network on
Disability (SBNoD) and I salute
your motivation and your work.
You are role models for every
company, everywhere.
Another enabling group I admire
is the team at SPD which has
been supporting differently
abled citizens for over 55 years
through a range of programmes.
Like SBNoD, an important goal of
SPD is to enable differently
abled people to get jobs, to
contribute to society, to be
self-reliant and not be
institutionalised.

SPD is
a registered charity and like
many has had to cancel fund
raising activities because of
the pandemic. Never to be
daunted, the committed and
energetic team has come up with
the SPD STAR Programme which is
a monthly giving programme. I
commend it to you.
Why is
monthly giving important?
• With the Covid-19
pandemic, numerous fund raising
activities have been cancelled
• There has been a decrease in
donations
• A steady and
predictable source of funding
for support programmes and
services to benefit our
differently abled citizens is
needed
• It allows SPD to
better plan these programmes and
services
