Dear
Members and Friends
When cancer occurs, it changes
lives and takes others. It has
many forms and happens to more
people than we might think. It
is always a struggle for adults.
Think what it is like for
children who are just starting
out in life. Think what it does
to their parents and their
finances.
Now in its 18th
year, Hair for Hope is the
flagship fundraiser of the
Children’s Cancer Foundation
(CCF) – the only head-shaving
campaign in Singapore that
serves to raise funds and the
awareness of childhood cancers.
This year’s campaign runs from
2 May to 30 June 2021
and aims to attract 1,500
shavees and raise $1.5 million
in donations.
Why
Hair for Hope?
When
children with cancer lose their
hair due to chemotherapy, some
get laughed at while others
receive unkind remarks simply
because they look different.
This affects their self-esteem
at a time when they are already
battling a very nasty disease
and they can become reclusive
for fear of rejection. They need
support not rejection. They need
understanding not
discrimination.
This is
why every shaven head at Hair
for Hope represents the attempt
by another human being to
understand the ordeals that a
child with cancer goes through
and is subjected to. Every
shaven head serves to tell them
it is OK to be bald. To
join as a shavee, visit
www.hairforhope.org.sg
when the website goes live on 2
May! I can’t expect you
to shave your head for a good
cause if I don’t. I will. Will
you?
Donations raised via
Hair for Hope contribute to more
than 40% of what CCF needs
annually to sustain its free
programmes and services for
children and families affected
by cancer. In 2020, CCF’s
resources were very
significantly hit when Hair for
Hope had to be cancelled because
of the pandemic.
CCF is
looking for like-minded
organisations to support this
worthy cause either with cash
sponsorship or by fronting your
CSR efforts by joining Hair for
Hope as a satellite partner.

Have a
productively paranoid week
ahead!
Yours faithfully
