Last week I talked about our
Position Paper on Extended
Producer Responsibility and this
week I want to share an
initiative by your fellow member
Dow on the same theme of
sustainable circularity.
In collaboration with Sport
Singapore, Dow is organising a
campaign to collect used sports
shoes which will be recycled and
repurposed. Our used sports
shoes can be given a second
lease of life by recycling them
to become sports infrastructures
such as jogging tracks, fitness
corners and playgrounds.
The Chamber salutes and supports
Dow’s continuing efforts to
embark on meaningful projects to
create a more sustainable
society by repurposing what
otherwise would end up in an
incinerator. Dow is a good
example of how recycling can be
commercially sustainable.
I encourage all members to
participate in and support this
campaign which ends 30 November
2020. There are plenty of
convenient collection points for
you to drop off your used sports
shoes and do your bit for the
environment and for sports.
