Dear
Members and Friends
Because of the pandemic and the
impact it is having on all our
lives, more and more people now
understand that good mental
health is a priority for each of
us. It is every bit as important
as good physical health.
Two weeks ago, we hosted a
terrific webinar with Nick
Jonsson, CEO EGN Singapore. Nick
openly shared his mental health
crisis and how he overcame it.
We need more brave people like
Nick to stand up and share their
stories to remove outdated and
unhelpful stigma and taboos.
For that to happen, we need
more business leaders and
employers to take their
responsibility to enable their
teams’ mental health much more
seriously. Here’s a word from
your fellow member iota
healthtech:-
When organisations increase
their commitment to mental
health wellness for their
employees, they achieve a number
of significant benefits: reduced
employee healthcare costs,
higher employee engagement,
lower turnover and increased
productivity.
A 2017
survey by the National Council
of Social Services (NCSS) of 505
companies found that for every
S$1 invested in workplace
adjustment to support people
recovering from mental health
issues, there was an average
return of S$5.60 through
increased productivity and
reduced absenteeism. The best
employee wellness programs are
the ones that are well
integrated into the workplace
culture of the firm and support
employees in balancing the
various aspects of their life.
When leaders and employers start
to place the mental wellbeing of
workplaces as a strategic
imperative, we will be one step
closer to creating truly
inclusive, resilient,
supportive, and innovative
workplaces.

Have a healthy week
ahead.
Yours faithfully
