Dear
Members and Friends
There has been a lot of talk
these last few months about the
importance of mental health.
That is a good thing. One of the
silver linings of the pandemic
has been the realization by many
people that good health includes
mental well-being at home and at
work, now and always.
Last week’s session with Anthea
Ong underlined the
responsibility of business
leaders to look after their own
mental wellbeing in order to be
able to look after their teams'.
This is not some fuzzy fad. This
is about empathetic and capable
leadership facilitating the
wellbeing of others to benefit
their business and customers.
Far too many people still
regard the subject of mental
illness as something strictly
for the asylum. This 19th
century notion and the stigma it
produces has no place in our
homes and workplaces today. 1 in
2 people in Singapore have said
in a recent survey they noticed
a deterioration in their mental
health during the last few
months. That is hardly
surprising given the stress
which many people have felt and
still feel.
We are here
to help and the Chamber is
setting up a Mental Wellbeing
Interest Group as part of its
Human Capital Interest Group. If
you would like to be part of
this group to help yourselves
and others, please let me know
at
[email protected].
Be your best to give your
best.
Yours faithfully
Victor Mills
