Dear Members and Friends

GONG XI FA CAI! I hope the Year of the Rat will bring you much good fortune and success!

Many of you know your Chamber has been a responsible issuer of Certificates of Origin and an endorser of other shipping documents since 1923. SICC also issues the ATA Carnet. These are collectively known as Certification Services which we provide to members and non-members alike.

My team could not do their job properly without understanding the rules for the sale of goods issued by the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce or ICC. The latest edition of the rules called Incoterms® 2020 became effective on 1 January this year.

Below is a message from our good friends the ICC Academy, Singapore on how they can help you acquire the knowledge to apply the rules with confidence.

ICC Academy and Incoterms®

The Incoterms® rules are a set of 11 commercial trade terms used by millions of enterprises—including multinationals, micro- small- and medium-sized enterprises and even individual practitioners—every day, everywhere. Whether you are filing a purchase order, packaging and labelling a shipment for freight transport, or preparing a certificate of origin at a port, the Incoterms® rules are there to guide you by making it easier to identify the most appropriate trade terms for your shipments.

Although the terms are one of most important features of global trade, they are often misinterpreted. The ICC Academy’s Incoterms® 2020 Certificate, the only officially authorized ICC online programme, provides everything you need to use the rules properly and to save you time and money. Find out more here.

With best regards.

Yours faithfully
Victor Mills
Chief Executive
