Dear Members and
Friends
Last week I
talked about the importance of
integrating immigrants into our society.
This week I want to focus on the
importance of integrating ex-offenders.
Singapore Prison Service works very hard
to help rehabilitate offenders. It
collaborates with several co-operatives
which, with support from the business
community, help with training, job
placement and support of the offender’s
family.
More businesses could
support these efforts by providing an
opportunity to ex-offenders to interview
for jobs. After all, the business
community supports a more inclusive
society.
Reductions in the
availability of foreign workers in
recent years have helped more employers
consider ex-offenders as another
potential labour pool. More can and
should do so. Kudos to all member
companies who already practice inclusive
hiring.
For those making a start,
check out these web sites for more
information on how you can help
ex-offenders integrate into the
workforce:

Have a great
week ahead.
With my thanks and
warmest regards.
