Dear Members and Friends
When your
Chamber decided it should champion the
circular economy a couple of years ago,
it was far from mainstream. The good
news is that has changed. Activists,
students, other young people,
businesses, civil society and more
governments now recognize that the clock
is ticking. We can’t keep consuming this
planet’s resources the way we have been
since 1945. As I intimated in last
week’s issue, businesses will have to be
the ones who adopt circularity to
mitigate the effects of climate change.
Only last week, the UK
Parliament recognized that climate
change is an emergency. Other voices are
calling for us all to eat less red meat
to reduce methane emissions and to
reduce air travel to reduce carbon
emissions. Changes are coming…with
implications that will impact all our
lives and all our businesses.
If
you want to learn more about the
circular economy from a credible
practitioner, you could not do better
than join me on 29 May for the Chamber’s
2nd Circular Economy Forum this year.
We’ll be featuring Chamber member
Philips, a world-leading health
technology company, which has embraced
true sustainability because of its
benefits to society and because it
believes sustainability is a driver for
economic growth.
Guest
speaker, Mr. Low Cheaw Hwei, Head of
Design for Philips in Asia and Head of
Government and Public Affairs for
Philips in Singapore, will
share how Philips Design enables a
rethink of business models that can
contribute to the circular economy
a.k.a. the virtuous circle.
Register here now! I hope to see you
there.
All the very best for a
productive week ahead.
Warmest regards
Victor Mills
Chief Executive
