Singapore will commemorate the bicentennial of Raffles’ 1819 treaty with the Temenggong of Johor next year. Often seen as marking the beginning of modern Singapore, Raffles’ treaty set the stage for teamwork, diverse population growth and the re-establishment of Singapore as a business hub. The treaty also led to colonialization and, eventually, to the post 1945 period of Merdeka, merger with Malaysia, and independence. Raffles paved the way but it was Singaporeans, led by an extraordinary, driven and focused leadership team, and working with their foreign friends who achieved broad-based economic success. It would have astonished Raffles as it continues to astonish so many of us.

To commemorate this significant moment in Singapore’s long history, your Chamber will launch the Internationalisation Series of events in 2019 collaborating with our friends at BritCham Singapore.

This event series will provide an opportunity for local and foreign companies to share their perspectives on how to internationalize a business.

The Internationalisation Series will be a quarterly event series. Each session will either be a case study presentation by members or a panel conversation on the challenges and opportunities of internationalisation.
