Dear Members and Friends

Not so long ago whenever I mentioned the words "circular economy" I'd get blank looks from business people. That's changing. And a good thing too. More business people are focussed on survival: the survival of our planet and our species. They know that in less than 12 years there will be 9 billion humans on this planet. They know the pressure on resources of all kinds will increase exponentially. They also know the business community has to act in its own interests and those of children and succeeding generations everywhere.

Most of the world's environmental problems have been caused by us humans. We can rectify many of these challenges by taking a different approach. Instead of producing ever-increasing amounts of waste that typify the existing linear economic model, we have the capabilities and the opportunity to create goods and services which produce materials for recycling. That is the definition of the circular economy: a virtuous cycle rather than a vicious one.
