Dear Members and Friends
Chamber Committees are part of any business association’s lifeblood. They provide members with opportunities to share expertise, feedback, ideas and information. We regularly review our Chamber committees in terms of their focus, scope, level of attendance and member engagement. I have decided to make some changes this new year. Rather than have committees on specific industries or sectors, with the special exception of legal services, I’ve decided to concentrate our collective efforts on issues and topics which affect all businesses whatever their size or sector.
Here’s the list of revamped Chamber Committees for you to choose from and the reasons why they exist and why you should continue to participate: -
- ASEAN Committee – because ASEAN is Singapore’s backyard and a vital marketplace for businesses based in Singapore.
- Circular Economy Committee (formerly known as the Corporate Sustainability Committee) – because Industrial Revolution 5.0 will be driven by rising world population and the resultant pressure on resources. These factors will lead to the end of the current linear business model and force product innovation to achieve materials for recycling rather than waste for incinerators or landfills. The commercial opportunities are vast. Grasp them now!
- Collaborative Innovation Committee (formerly known as the Innovation Committee) – this is designed primarily for our SME members because continual innovation is essential for all businesses to keep growing and collaboration is one of the fastest ways to innovate and grow.
- Corporate Governance & Regulatory Committee – because all businesses need to know what is required of them by regulators to stay compliant.
- Digitalisation Committee (formerly known as the Cybersecurity Committee) – because the story of all our futures is digitalisation not just cybersecurity.
- Education Services Committee – because we all need to keep learning to stay relevant.
- Human Capital Committee – because every business needs engaged and diverse people to thrive.
- Legal Services Committee – because we are so lucky to live in a country with access to an effective legal system which benefits business; and
- Tax Policy Committee – one of life’s certainties and increasing tax revenue is a challenge for Singapore on the current tax payer base.
To join a committee, please contact my colleague Philip Pang at [email protected].
I want to end by putting on record my sincere thanks to all members who contribute their time and expertise on Chamber committees. You define what active membership is all about: being a participator rather than a spectator. Thank you for all that you do to enhance the Brand of your Chamber: Singapore’s longest serving voice of the private sector.
With my very best regards Victor Mills Chief Executive |
