Yes, we do live on the same planet. When you think about it, there’s more sea than earth on our planet – hence Planet Sea - and it is under threat. 8 million tons of plastics are dumped, or end up, in our oceans every year. As H.R.H. The Prince of Wales said at last week’s Our Ocean 2017 in Malta; “plastic is on the menu.” It’s in our food chain. This is the reason why I got interested in the circular economy and why it is one of three focus areas for your Chamber. 

SICC is supporting a conference entitled “Towards plastic free oceans” in Singapore on 25 October organised by The European Union Delegation to Singapore and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. ASEAN needs to act now. There are limited seats. Please contact me at [email protected] if you’d like one.
