TRIBUTE TO THE LATE JAMES DESMOND HOWARD NEILL, MBE PBM 1923-2017

The Chamber records its deep regret on the passing of Mr. J.D.H. Neill in Singapore on 27 May 2017.

Mr. Neill served the Chamber as its Chairman from 1975-77 representing member company Fraser & Neave. He served the Chamber with distinction. He was the first Chairman of British birth who held Singapore citizenship. He spoke fluent Hokkien, learned his trade in the Colonial Labour Department and became a key figure in the National Wages Council.

He continued to serve as an elder statesman on the Board for many years after his chairmanship.
