1 July was SAF Day which, like many of you, my colleagues and I celebrated on 30 June by attending a Combined Rededication Ceremony. Many thanks to Proctor & Gamble Singapore for being great hosts of the CBD & South Zone Ceremony.

1 July was also the 150^th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. A belated happy Canada Day to all our Canadian members and friends!

Singapore’s annual Pink Dot event also took place on 1 July. Kudos to all the Singapore companies which stepped up to provide support. You made diversity count by being inclusive.

Today is the 241^st U.S. Independence Day. A happy 4^th of July to all our American members and friends!

Last week, your Chamber’s Tax Policy Committee held its annual dialogue with officers from the Ministry of Finance (MOF). The purpose was to discuss ways in which SICC’s annual budget wish list could be made more useful to policy makers.

MOF would welcome feedback on equitable and progressive ways to raise tax revenue which will not undermine Singapore’s competitiveness.

I would like to invite your company to share its views on how this ambitious but necessary goal might be achieved, bearing in mind Singapore’s rapidly aging population and low birth rates. Please send your views to me at [email protected] by 21 July 2017.
