Dear Members and Friends Normally, MemberCONNECT is published each Tuesday unless public holidays intervene or unless we have another good reason. Today we certainly have a good reason to delay publication to 8 February because today, your Chamber celebrates 180 years in Singapore. SICC was founded on 8 February 1837 by a handful of businessmen who came together to keep Singapore a free port. I want to use this milestone birthday to pay tribute to all our members who collectively contribute not only to Singapore’s business community but also to Singapore. No other organisation here can match this record of service and it is something all members should value and work to sustain. As you know only too well, the best way to do that is to actively participate in your Chamber. So, as we wish SICC happy 180th birthday today, let’s all do our part to continue the Chamber’s journey of collective contributions, collaborative innovations and active participation to create value for ourselves and for this very special country.
