Artificial intelligence (AI) has impacted just about every aspect of our lives, promising faster answers, better outcomes and improved productivity. Today AI is being used as a new approach to cyber defense. It augments human intelligence to help security analysts sort large volumes of data at a speed and scale that no person can match. This reduces security incident response time which is critical to winning the battle against cybersecurity threats.

A lunch-time talk was organised on 7 February for CISOs, CIOs, Heads of IT Security and IT Security Managers to understand how AI is being applied to detect and respond to threats in enterprises of all sizes and sectors. Our guest speaker, Mr Max Heinemeyer, Director of Threat Hunting, Darktrace demonstrated how machine learning and AI algorithms can be leveraged to mimic the intelligence of the human immune system and establish a normal ‘pattern of life’ for all users and devices on the network. By identifying deviations from this evolving baseline, security teams can detect and fight back to emerging threats in seconds, before they become headlines.

Mr Manish Madan, Head of IT, Canadian International School also shared his experience as a customer who has successfully strengthened his organisation’s cyber defense using machine learning and AI.

Many thanks to Darktrace hosting this lunch session and for sharing their knowledge and expertise with fellow members.
