26 February 2019 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

DBS Auditorium, Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 3, 12 Marina Boulevard, Level 3, Singapore 018982

The Chamber’s annual Post-Budget Breakfast Talk took place on 26 February 2019. Hosted by member DBS Bank, this event was attended by close to 100 C-suite executives and finance and tax professionals.

This year’s line-up of expert speakers included Mr Irvin Seah, Executive Director for Economics and Currency Research at DBS Bank, Dr Chua Hak Bin, Senior Economist at Maybank Kim Eng and Mr Rohan Solapurkar, Tax Partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Irvin first shared his analyses of the key measures of Budget 2019. For companies, this year’s budget focuses on deepening enterprise capabilities and encouraging internationalization. Instead of introducing new policies, many of the existing measures were extended or enhanced. For the individual Singaporeans, strengthening of social support is of significant focus, including increased healthcare spending, helping elderly workers, the Bicentennial Bonus and more support for PMETs. Hak Bin shared further insights on the key measures and also elaborated on the tightening of foreign workers’ quotas for the services sector. Lastly, Rohan spoke about the current tax environment and covered the key tax changes announced in this year’s budget.

Following their individual presentations was a joint Q&A moderated by Mr Devadas Krishnadas, Chief Executive Officer of Future-Moves Group.
