Ms. Valeriane Toon, Senior Assistant Director, shared with members key aspects of data protection and the need for regulating NRIC and other identification numbers. She provided an overview of the requirements and exceptions to requesting for NRIC checks in various scenarios. The new rules will be applied from 1 September 2019. Members had great interactions on the topic and will follow up with further discussions with both the CPE and MOE. The Secretariat also updated members on the upcoming Joint Interest Group Dialogue between this group and the Human Capital Group on 10 May at 10am here at the chamber.
