Can Singapore do for Waste what it has done for Water?

Singapore is recognised internationally as a Global HydroHub – a leading centre for business opportunities and expertise in water technologies. There are many parallels between Singapore’s water success story and the global priority to make resource use circular, known as the Circular Economy. Today's linear ‘take, make, dispose’ economic model relies on large quantities of cheap, easily accessible materials and energy. It is a model that is reaching its physical limits.

By 2050, we will have more plastics in the ocean than fish unless we re-think waste management. In Asia, developed countries such as Japan and Taiwan already have a strong culture of waste segregation and recycling whilst developing countries are getting ahead of Singapore in rethinking waste and looking to circular systems.

How can Singapore use its knowledge from its water success story to lead the world to drive circularity and remove the creation of waste?

This session will bring insights from global business leaders to waste pickers who are all beginning to believe in seeing post-consumer waste not as trash, but as a resource. The session will also feature fast-growing Singaporean brand, NooTrees
Key takeaways include:
• How Singapore currently treats waste and the economic opportunity in driving circularity
• Why many governments and businesses are driving Circular Economy
• New regulations in Asia affecting manufacturers and brands
• Best business practices – globally and in Asia
